Daddy TipsDads are a great part of every child's life. Dads teach little boys how to walk and talk and how to walk the talk. Dads teach little girls the values that she will desire in the man that she chooses in her life. Everyone remembers a few moments in life that we share with our dad, whether good or bad, each of us have special moments that we will always remember that we have shared with our fathers. So dads, make those special moments with your children and they will create a lifetime of memories. It's the small things that are huge to your little ones. Traditions and habits that will be unforgettable for the rest of their lives. Make some unforgettable moments with your children, some small special things that you do individually with each of them that they will always remember as a special time with just them and dad. If you have several children it may be hard to explain that this is a special time with just one of them, but in turn make a special event or ritual with each of your children, a moment that is just between you and that child. Something I like to do with my oldest son (4 years old) is every Sunday morning we go to the donut shop, first thing when we get up. Just me and him, a special time between the two of us only. I let him pick out the donut that he wants (he always picks the one with the most colorful sprinkles) we get some for mommy and some for brother. He counts on it every Sunday and knows that is where we are going. He sometimes asks if we are going to the "donut place" everyday. The "donut place" is nothing special. There are 10 donut shops in a 5 miles radius of me, but he knows where our donut place is. I would hope that when he's 18 and graduating from high school that one of his best memories of childhood is going to the "donut place" with dad on Sunday morning. A special time between him and me that he counts on every week. A time that we can talk about anything that we want, and act as silly as we want to. A time that it's just him and me, and not brother, or mommy cutting in on his glory. A small blink in time that hopefully will last forever in his mind and his heart. |
