Birthday Party TipsBirthday parties are so much fun, but don't have to cost a fortune. If you can, have the party in your home or backyard. It's much easier to organize activities and you won't have to haul food and supplies around. If your living space is too small to accommodate everyone, consider borrowing a relatives house. Make it clear to your family member that you will do all the setting up and cleaning. Or use a local park, kid's have fun there anyway. It is less expensive to decorate a picnic table than a whole party area at your house. When planning a party, you may feel the need to invite all your friends and family. But the bigger the party the more pricey it will be. Instead, limit yourself to a set number of guests, and stop yourself from adding to the list. If you're throwing a child's birthday party, invite only people you know who will have fun for a few hours in a house full of crazy kids. Food is often a focal point of the party, but that doesn't mean you have to serve a three course meal. Have the party at around two in the afternoon and only serve cake, punch, ice cream, a bowl of trail mix or small finger sandwiches. You could also just have plain cupcakes already made ahead of time and let the children decorate their own. This is always a party hit. Make sure you have plenty of sprinkles, colored sugar or candies on hand. This way you don't have to spend anything extra on an expensively decorated cake. Make it easy on yourself so you can enjoy the party too. Another idea is invite the parents of the children invited and do potluck. You can still do cake and ice cream, but this way you can spare all the expense of a hugh party. It will be a backyard event that will last well into the evening. The kids will have just as much fun as the adults. |
